HOUSTON VOLUNTEER LAWYERS VETERANS LEGAL INITIATIVE SUPERVISING ATTORNEY JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Houston Volunteer Lawyers seeks to hire a full-time attorney to leverage the use of pro bono legal services to deliver client-centered free legal services to serve the veterans community. The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience delivering civil legal services with pro bono attorneys to veterans who face barriers accessing justice. This role requires a high degree of professionalism, self-motivation, legal expertise, and a thriving passion for social justice.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

  • Deliver client-centered legal services to veterans in partnership with volunteer attorneys at a fast-paced non-profit legal organization.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor pro bono volunteers who are providing pro bono direct legal assistance to veterans.
  • Conduct legal information and outreach to community partners and the community HVL serves to serve the veteran community.
  • Partner with regional stakeholders and service providers to develop collaborative approaches to delivering client-centered, effective civil legal services to veterans.

Education and Experience

  • Juris Doctor and State Bar licensure in Texas, in good standing (required).
  • Accreditation under the US Dept of Veterans Affairs (preferred)
  • Excellent time management & prioritization skills.
  • Strong legal analysis skills & communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire pro bono attorneys

Annual Salary and Benefits

The salary range begins at  $75,000 to $90,000 and will be commensurate to experience and qualifications.
