Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) is an independent organization within the Internal Revenue Service that helps taxpayers and protect taxpayer rights.  TAS helps taxpayers whose problems with the IRS are causing financial difficulties, who've tried but haven't been able to resolve their problems with the IRS, or believe an IRS system or procedure isn't working as it should.  TAS' goal at the Taxpayer Problem Solving Day is to provide one to one guidance and direction on next steps to resolve your issue.  If your tax problem meets TAS' criteria, TAS assign a Case Advocate to work with you to resolve your issue.  To learn more about TAS, visit www.TaxpayerAdvocate.irs.gov

Neighborhood Tax Centers is a program of BakerRipley.  It offers free, quality tax services to families and individuals earning up to $58,000. Since 2009, Neighborhood Tax Centers have prepared over 288,000 tax returns, putting over $390 million back in the pockets of working families.  Families save an average of $200 in tax preparation and predatory refund loan fees amounting to an estimated savings of about $7.5 million per year. BakerRipley connects low-income families and individuals to opportunity so they can achieve the life they've imagined.  It is the reason why they exist and it's something that has not changed since its founding in 1907. BakerRipley believes that neighborhoods are bridges to opportunity, that people can transform communities, and that everyone everywhere has something to contribute. The Houston CPA Society, a Society of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, has been the premier organization serving CPAs in Harris and 12 sounding counties since 1928.  Years of dedication by active and involved leaders have helped the Society focus on empowering CPAs to meet the challenges of the future through professional development and community involvement.  Community service is an activity prioritized by the leadership and members. Through the Society's endowment and its CPAs Helping Schools program, many schools in Houston and the surrounding counties have benefited from cash grants, mentorship, clothing drives, and field trips.  November is the Society's Month of Service.
