HOUSTON VOLUNTEER LAWYERS LEGAL CASE WORKER JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Houston Volunteer Lawyers, the non-profit legal aid arm of the Houston Bar Association, is seeking a full-time Legal Case Worker to assist in providing legal aid to low-income Houston area residents.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Opening and reviewing client files to evaluate clients’ income, assets, and expenses.
- Conduct follow-up communications with clients & maintain client records.
- Assist with receptionist phone duties and manage other legal administrative functions.
- Staff legal advice clinics, including some Saturdays and some after hour events.
- Work with Houston Volunteer Lawyers staff attorneys and volunteers as needed.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Excellent computer and data entry skills
- Strong verbal and written proficiency in Spanish & English
- Reliable transportation
- A desire to provide public service
- Attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills
Preferred:
- 4 Year bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate, or 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience working with individuals facing barriers and hardships

Annual Salary and Benefits
The salary range is $30,000 – $37,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
