Houston Volunteer Lawyers (HVL) offers career positions in addition to opportunities for law students and/or newly licensed attorneys to work with staff attorneys as Interns or Fellows.

Internships & Fellowships

Law students may receive course credit based on the number of hours worked. Partner organizations such as the Asian American Bar Association and the Association of Women Attorneys often provide funding to support a Fellowship with HVL.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Interns and Fellows must desire to work with low-income clients on civil legal issues.
  • Successful candidates will possess strong writing skills and have good communication and organizational skills.
  • Interns must be a 2L or 3L law student in good standing.
  • Interns and Fellows will receive one-on-one mentorship and training from HVL staff attorneys.
