Crisis at the Texas Border

As you may have heard, thousands of children are fleeing their homes in Central America due to a lack of economic opportunity and threats from gangs. The dangerous journey that these children are making to the United States - mostly without adult supervision - is a more appealing option than the conditions they face at home.  Once they arrive in the United States, however, many of these unaccompanied children are detained and face daunting court proceedings.

Hear about the need from the Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court

If you are an attorney interested in volunteering to represent an unaccompanied child in immigration proceedings, you can find recent CLE materials and information here, and learn about available pro bono cases by visiting the Houston Volunteer Lawyers portal at: https://portal.makejusticehappen.org.  Stay informed by signing up for our weekly e-newsletter and following us on Facebook and Twitter.
